Uncorked: The First Pour

When Amanda and I sat down after Uncorked and reflected on the evening, we found ourselves talking less about the event itself and more about the people who filled the room.

The wine was wonderful. The conversations were engaging. The silent auction was active. But what stood out most was the sense of community that existed throughout the evening.

Friends reconnecting.

New relationships being formed.

People from different backgrounds and experiences gathering together around a shared belief that meaningful things can happen when good people come together.

That was exactly what we had hoped for.

From the beginning, Infinite Horizons Foundation was never intended to be simply another charitable organization. It was born from years of conversations about the kind of impact we hoped to create beyond our businesses, beyond our careers, and beyond ourselves.

Like many people, we always assumed charitable giving was something we would focus on later in life. At some point, however, we found ourselves asking a different question.

Why wait?

If creating a legacy is important, why wait until the end of your life to begin building it? Why not start now? Why not spend decades helping shape it, watching it grow, and seeing the lives it impacts along the way?

That simple question ultimately became the foundation for Infinite Horizons Foundation.

The Comox Valley welcomed us when we first arrived here more than a decade ago. The opportunities we’ve been given, the friendships we’ve built, and the support we’ve received have shaped our lives in countless ways. In many respects, this Foundation is our way of giving back to the communities that have given so much to us.

Our vision is straightforward. We want to create long-term, sustainable impact throughout Vancouver Island by supporting initiatives focused on youth, healthcare, environmental stewardship, community programs, and educational scholarships. We believe strong communities are built when people invest in one another, and we hope the Foundation can play a meaningful role in helping that happen.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when we unveiled a plaque recognizing the Foundation’s early growth. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers, businesses, and community supporters, Infinite Horizons Foundation has raised $68,856 during its inaugural 2025/2026 fiscal year.

While we are incredibly grateful for the amount itself, what it represents is even more meaningful. It represents trust. It represents belief. It represents people who were willing to support a vision before there was a history to point to. Every organization has a beginning, and every foundation starts with people who are willing to believe in what something might become.

Looking around the room that evening, we didn’t see donors or ticket holders. We saw founding supporters.

That realization was both humbling and inspiring.

The people who attended Uncorked weren’t simply guests at an event. They became part of the first chapter of a story that we hope will continue creating impact for generations to come.

We were also excited to share a glimpse of what comes next.

One of the ideas that has always resonated with us is that some of life’s most meaningful conversations happen around a table. Food has a way of bringing people together. Wine creates connection. Travel broadens perspectives. Community gives all of those experiences meaning.

That philosophy inspired what we call The Infinite Table.

Over the coming months and years, that vision will come to life through experiences such as The Slice, Reserve – The Founders Table, and Journeys. Each has been intentionally designed to bring together community, connection, and philanthropy in a way that feels authentic and enjoyable.

Journeys, in particular, reflects much of what inspired us to create the Foundation in the first place. Our goal is to create annual culinary and wine-focused experiences that offer access to places, people, and opportunities not typically available to the general public. Whether that means private wine cellars, intimate tastings, extraordinary dining experiences, or unforgettable destinations, the goal is always the same: to create meaningful experiences while supporting meaningful causes.

As we shared during the evening, while anyone can book a hotel room, not everyone gets invited behind the cellar door.

As we reflect on the success of Uncorked, we feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

Gratitude for our sponsors, volunteers, donors, auction contributors, and everyone who attended. Gratitude for the encouragement we’ve received throughout this journey. Most importantly, gratitude for the growing community that is forming around Infinite Horizons Foundation.

The launch of a foundation is often described as a beginning, but that doesn’t quite capture what the evening felt like.

It felt like momentum.

It felt like possibility.

It felt like the start of something that will become far greater than either of us could build alone.

To everyone who joined us for Uncorked, thank you for being part of the beginning.

The conversations started that evening. The friendships formed that evening. And the impact we create together in the years ahead is exactly what Infinite Horizons Foundation is all about.

After all, this was only the first pour.
